Democracy Brewing, a brewpub located at 35 Temple Pl, Boston, MA, is a hidden gem that offers a unique and inviting atmosphere. With its exposed brick walls, gothic arches, and barrel decorations, the space exudes a wine cellar chic vibe. Despite its seemingly small exterior, upon entering, one realizes that the brewery is deceptively large, providing ample seating options both at the bar and for sit-down meals.
The beer selection at Democracy Brewing is highly praised, with the stout being a standout favorite. Smooth and rich in flavor, it boasts a complex profile with minimal bitterness. Additionally, the food offerings at this establishment have garnered positive reviews. Notably, the bao buns are a must-try, featuring crispy chicken and soft, cloud-like buns. While some found the buns to be overly sweet, the addition of acidic elements would have provided a welcome contrast.

Its exceptional service, fantastic food, and impressive beer selection contribute to an incredible dining experience. Whether strolling downtown or enjoying the nearby park, visiting Democracy Brewing for a bite and a brew is highly recommended.

Reviews
This cavernous brewery looks tiny from the outside, but upon entering you realize it's deceptively large.with exposed brick, gothic arches, and barrel decorations, the vibe is wine cellar chic. Whether you want to sit down for a meal or have some brews at the bar, there is something here for everyone.
The beer was all pretty good from what I tried. I probably most enjoyed the stout. Smooth with great complex flavor with almost no bitterness.
The food here mostly seems very good from what I saw. I did try the bao buns which were super fresh and tasty with crisp chicken and soft cloud-like buns. It tasted super fresh but I wasn't the biggest fan. I found them to be overly sweet (they do call it sweet chili bao buns on the menu, so I guess that's on me) and something acidic would have gone a long way to breaking up the sugary sweetness. Also, two of the four buns had only a tiny nugget of chicken, leaving me with crunchless soft sticky sweet buns. The microgreens scattered over it added some great flavor boost.
I had a great time hanging out here and if you are walking around downtown or across the street in the park, I highly recommend popping in here for a bite and a brew.
As an out- of-towner I have not been to this part of Boston for about 5 years but glad to re-visit. First time to Democracy. Buffalo Cauliflower was a little soggy but still a good purchase. Ate at bar; service was good. Nice atmosphere.
I am the last person to willing order a salad, but the tropical grain bowl was AMAZING. The fruit, avocado, vegetable, and grain combination was perfect and it was packed full of flavor. We added in falafel and it was delicious. There was a good mix of sweet and savory and I highly recommend it for a main. For starters we got the spicy fried cauliflower and chose the mango habanero sauce. Highly recommend if you like a kick to your food but don’t want to burn the house down with hotness. The cauliflower was nice and crisp, so often I see it done soggy but they made it just right here. I will say portion sizes are quite large, we were a party of two and shared the starter and grain bowl and we were full. The drinks were amazing too, we did a flight and tried the worker’s pint, pura vida, bicycle race, and consummate rioter. My two favorites were the rioter and worker’s, but honestly all of them were good. This was a great find that we stumbled upon and I would definitely recommend them! They are also gluten free and vegetarian/vegan friendly.
As a person who studies democracy professionally and loves beer, I was drawn to visit once I saw the name and I was not disappointed! The beer was great, the food fantastic, and the atmosphere incredible. The service was excellent, too!
Very friendly service. The different beers we sampled were all good, but did not seem to offer a great variety of flavours. We visited quite early on a Monday so atmosphere may be more engaging as the place gets busier.
This tucked away brewery offers solid beer (I enjoyed a flight with a wit, nitro stout, amber lager, and double IPA) in a relaxed setting. Definitely worth the visit, half a block from the Park Street green line stop.
Comfortable brewpub with excellent food and solid house made beer. Decor is great, service is excellent. Really good place for a meal and a couple of good beers!
Great fish tacos. Good range of beers but it'll be good if they also did other alcoholic drinks. Didn't give us any culterly with our food though.
